Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.
Are you ready for something new? Are you a stifled creative, a budding writer or perhaps just need a break and a rethink…
Take time out to reflect on your life, what you want to add to it and what the next chapter will be.
Hemingway said ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until you see it on paper’. He was referring to books but it works for life too. This retreat combines writing with life review.
You could write a diary, a journal, a biz plan, a bio, a novel. Keep it, burn it, publish it, it is up to you.
Try new things, look anew at your life habits and create a promise to yourself to take home.
Free write and brainstorm and benefit from one-to-ones with Karen and Jacq.
Share, write, plot and plan. Walk through lush rice fields, climb a mountain, be still and meditate. Enjoy good food, simple luxury and massage. Get a taste of local life; have some fun.
Go home with a plan for the next chapter of your life.
Sep 7 – 11, 2017
Day 1. Settle In. Reawaken Your Senses.
After settling in we discuss the program and introduce ourselves over a glass of our famous ginger and lemongrass tea. We talk about making holiday promises to ourselves. Armed with your copy of Karen’s “Take Your Holiday Home” journal, along with other delightful treats, we start our first story workshop. Jacq makes it easy for you to look at your life in a new way through story. There’s time to wander, relax, chat before heading to the dining table in the rice paddies for a Balinese style dinner.
Day 2. Good Living Habits.
Get ready to immerse yourself in good living habits. Join a meditation session, first to deeply relax, then meditate, to wash away your usual routine and wake us up and free our minds. Bring your journal. New to meditation? Don’t worry; this is your chance to try it free of pressure. Take time think about where you want to be in life and read stuff that inspires you. It may just be one page. All this before breakfast. Such a great start to the day.
We settle into a morning workshop, time to brainstorm and try free writing. See what emerges. We walk through village farms to our “coconut bar” for refreshing coconut water and a delicious lunch overlooking the jungle. The afternoon is for treats. Blissful massages, time out to journal, read, nap or just quietly think. Re-energize at a late afternoon yoga session.
Over drinks we reflect on the day. Karen tells her story of shifting from the corporate world to living in a Bali village and surprising herself by writing two books. It’s a big day. We’re ready for dinner.
Day 3. Fresh Perspectives.
There’s nothing like a beautiful sunrise to put a fresh perspective on life. Our ‘Beyond Bali Sunrise at the Caldera’ experience will see you hiking by torchlight to arrive at the best place to see the sun rise over the east coast of Bali. We have 360 degree views of the ocean, mountains, villages and lake. It’s spectacular. Breakfast is local fish cooked on a fire, simple luxury. After hiking back down to the lake we take a local boat to the mineral hot springs. Soak in the hot mineral waters for an hour or so, feel good about the day.
The afternoon is for naps, massages, reading, journaling. Your choice. Join a gentle activation session late afternoon to reawaken the mind and body.
Over drinks Jacq becomes the storyteller, sharing the ups, downs, and truths working for over 25 years helping authors tell their stories. It’s an early dinner after a big day. So worth the 3am wake-up call!
Day 4. Share. Write. Plot. Plan.
An early morning walk takes us through the village to a path where we introduce a walking meditation. A beautiful, simple start to the day. After breakfast, we settle in to a story workshop.
Get to know the secrets of our kitchen on a food gathering walk and cooking session before lunch. The afternoon is time for you. Work on your story. To get the blood flowing we have an active play session (it involves coconuts!) in our bamboo gym.
Over drinks we share stories, as much or as little as you like of what you’ve discovered. We celebrate our last night with a candlelit Balinese feast with the Sharing Bali crew.
Day 5. Make A Promise.
Jacq takes us through a 10-minute early morning activation session, showing us that we have no excuse to not include this in our daily life at home.
We linger over breakfast before wrapping up with a session on how our next chapters are looking and the ONE promise that you take home with you. It’s time to say farewell and head to the airport or your next destination.
Next Go Live The Next Chapter Of Your Life.
*You are welcome to book a one-on-one with Jacq and Karen throughout the retreat. Jacq’s ‘your story map’ technique lets you take a playful look at where you’ve been, where you are now and where to next. Using Karen’s book, we can talk about taking your promises home and preparing for hurdles.
